Thai Panya Pradabsri defeated Venezuelan Carlos Cañizales by majority decision, winning the World Boxing Council light flyweight world title at the Rajadamnern Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk managed to close 2024 in brilliant fashion, after defending his World Boxing Council, WBO and WBA crowns by unanimous decision in a rematch against Tyson Fury, at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, as part of Riyadh Season.


At a boxing evening organized in Les Mureaux, France, Khalil El Hadri and Bilel Jkitou won World Boxing Council Silver titles in exciting fights. El Hadri, at super featherweight, defeated Panamanian Williams Vargas; while Bilel Jkitou defeated Mexican Juan José Rodríguez at middleweight.

Boxing champion Israel Vázquez (44-5 with 32 KOs) was honored with a mass in his memory at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Huntington Park, California. Forever our Friend and our Hero.

Natasha Jonas defeated Ivana Habazin to unify the World Boxing Council and IBF welterweight titles after beating Ivana Habazin by unanimous decision in Liverpool.

The 62nd World Boxing Council Convention, held at the Grand Elysee Hotel in Hamburg, concluded successfully.

December 12
The glorious night of fighting at the annual World Boxing Council Convention, held at the Grand Elysee Hotel in Hamburg, Germany, saw a handful of WBC champions, from flyweight to heavyweight.
The main fight of the evening involved WBC super flyweight champion Asley Gonzalez, who successfully defended her title against Mary Romero. In another bout, Esneidy Rodriguez defeated Sana Hazuki by split decision, for the WBC Silver Atom belt.



December 11
The now classic “Talent Show” was held during the annual WBC Convention. A special night, members of the boxing family have the opportunity to show what they can do, playing an instrument, singing, dancing, displaying their greatest talents.

December 10
The annual WBC convention held in Hamburg, Germany, with the mandatory fights and ratings sessions, alternating between men’s and women’s activity.

December 9
An important session was held during the annual WBC Convention, where key topics were touched upon, such as the essential and vital need for boxing to return to the Olympic Games, which is headed by World Boxing. Its president Boris Van Der Vorst. He said that they currently have 59 National Commissions but need seventy-five. At a meeting with the IOC this coming March, a decision will be made on whether Olympic boxing will resume and can be at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.


Jill Diamond and Christiane Manzur with the support of Universum, took the WBC Cares team, which included boxing champions, to a school in Hamburg. Twenty-eight children, as well as parents and teachers, welcomed them with boundless enthusiasm.

The WBC Convention gala dinner was held in Hamburg, with the presence of Wladimir Klitschtko, Lennox Lewis, Turki Alalshikh, Terence Crawford, Klaus Meine, among many others.



Mauricio Sulaimán was re-elected as President of the World Boxing Council for a period of four more years; this during the first day of activities of the 62nd Annual WBC Convention. After his re-election, Mauricio Sulaimán proposed the motion that the WBC Board of Governors, which has accompanied him during his term, be re-elected and his proposal was accepted by acclamation.

The Canastota International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum announced the new class of inductees who will be honored from June 5 to 8, 2025

Miguel Torruco, National Director of Sports Promotion and Well-being; and Mauricio Sulaimán, announced the giant boxing class that will involve the entire Mexican nation.

Lourdes Juárez received the WBC light flyweight belt from the hands of the WBC president, at the last press conference of the year of Martes A Café, at Sports and Chips in Mexico City.

49 years were commemorated since Don José Sulaimán became President of the WBC, elected unanimously in Tunisia, North Africa.

Three-time super bantamweight world champion Israel Vazquez passed away, leaving us with a series of precious and indelible memories, which crystallize his fierce determination and will to win in the ring, enhanced by his gentle and compassionate kindness towards his fellow men outside of it.
