At the Futurama cultural center in Lindavista, Mexico City, the inauguration of the “Green and Gold” Exhibition, where with images and a rich source of memorabilia related to the world of boxing, explains and outlines the story of a sport that we have welcomed as our very own.
The Mayor of Gustavo A. Madero, Dr. Francisco Chiguil Figueroa, our host, welcomed us and invited everyone to view this exhibition that will be presented for two months and will be open to the public.
He says it’s an honor to display this exhibition, as he firmly believes that boxing is a sport that we must promote and what better than through a journey through its history.
This expo reaffirms his government’s commitment to the community and to the culture of sport, as young people need is to have hopes, dream big and see that everything we set out to do, can indeed be accomplished, as long as work with dedication and passion is applied.
This exhibition is the proof that regardless of where we come from, we can always succeed and exceed the limits set. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting sport, since that is where champions come from.
He recalled and remembered his favorite fights, including Muhammad Ali against Ken Norton / Joe Frazier, but also his idols Humberto González and Rubén Olivares.
He fondly cherishes Don José Sulaimán, a man who always watched over boxing and transformed it, and to whom we owe so much, concerning its evolution.
The President of the WBC, Mr. Mauricio Sulaimán, was thrilled plus proud, because many of his idols were alongside him including Humberto González, Rubén Olivares and Pipino Cuevas, men who made Boxing history.
“I am very excited, this place reminds me of my childhood, I used to come here to the traditional Futurama cinema with my siblings, and today, years later, it is now the venue for this great exhibition that for us is a tribute to the sport of boxing, to the organization and especially its boxers, the stars who really write history with their heroic acts.
