
Two-time world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia will make his super welterweight debut when he faces José Benavidez Jr. in the main event of an undercard on Saturday, at the Barclays Cente, Brooklyn, New York.
Garcia, who hasn’t fought since December 2020 when he was defeated by Errol Spence Jr. He`s the former WBC super lightweight and welterweight champion.
Garcia (36-3, 21 KOs) now looks to add a 154-pound title to his list of accomplishments. He returns to fight at Barclays Center for the ninth time, where he headlined the first boxing show at the arena in 2012 in his Showtime debut.
The Philadelphia fighter`s career has seen him defeat Erik Morales, Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Lucas Matthysse, Nate Campbell, Kendall Holt, Lamont Peterson, Paulie Malignaggi and Robert Guerrero.
José ated 30, is the older brother of two-time undefeated world champion David Benavídez and is trained by their father. A long-established contender, Benavidez moved up to super welterweight in his most recent fight after losing a 147-pound title showdown to Terence Crawford in October 2018.
