
Only just the other day, Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora conquered the World Boxing Council Youth flyweight championship, defeating Tania “La Finita” García by unanimous decision, at the Sala de Armas in Magdalena Mixhuca in the Mexican capital, topping the Bill “Todo por el Todo”, offered by LC Promotions, a company led by Luis Andrade Mendoza…by a head and shoulders!
The fighter from Coachella, California, from the beginning of the intense bout imposed her greater height and reach, forcing her opponent to seek combat at close range. It was a true coming of age and a boxing graduation.
Clad in winter clothes to protect her from the bitter chill of mountain training, she joined us on our traditional Coffee Tuesdays via zoom to talk about her distinguished victory, but above all, to tell us about her plans.
“I am very proud to be the new junior world champion. It was a tough fight, but she missed the target.
“My first belt was cherished Green and Gold and this one is too. My goal is to be an active fighter and for that reason I will return to fight in April. I want to continue building my path of success.”
