Promoter Frank Warren announced that 85,000 tickets were sold in just three hours for the April 23 fight at Wembley Stadium in London between World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and interim champion Dillian. Whyte.
After the success at the box office, Frank Warren commented that he has applied to the local authorities to expand the allowed capacity to 100,000 spectators.
Frank commented: “I always imagined this fight wouldn’t be a hard sell so I’m happy we chose to stage it at the biggest and best venue in the UK. This illustrates what a huge draw Tyson has become, his personality is contagious, and he truly is a champion of the people.
“He is also the number 1 heavyweight in the world and one of the most recognized athletes on the planet. I am delighted that we are bringing him back to the UK to perform on the biggest stage of them all against Dillian Whyte in what will be one of the biggest events of the year.”
Fury will return to the UK after five consecutive fights in the United States.
