Free negotiations for Stevenson vs. Zepeda

The World Boxing Council ordered a 30-day negotiation period for lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson and interim champion William Zepeda, to reach an agreement for a long-awaited meeting between undefeated champions.

If the parties do not reach an agreement by May 6, a purse bid will be held for this fight.
Last February, American Shakur Stevenson retained his belt by knocking out last-minute opponent Josh Padley, England, in the ninth round in a fight at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

On March 29, Mexican William Camarón Zepeda retained his interim title by defeating American Tevin 2X Farmer by majority decision at the Benito Juárez Poliforum in Cancún, Quintana Roo.
