Trainer Freddie Roach, who is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, will look for WBC Silver champion Jaime Munguia, to show all of his skills when he faces the British John Ryder, whom he will face in Phoenix, Arizona.
Jaime Munguia has been working with Roach for more than 4 months at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California and they have made a great team, according to Freddie in an interview with the Boxingscene site.
“Jaime is better than I thought. He is a very complete fighter with many qualities. From the first day we have worked a lot. It is fun to work with him. We have worked on combinations, being more of an attacking movement and not a counterpuncher. He is “doing very well.
“He has a great offense. He is a good boxer, he has good footwork and his combinations are very, very good. We have formed a good work team and we are going to show it.”
Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) will fight for the first time Saturday night since his big battle with Ukrainian Sergiy Derevyanchenko seven and a half months ago.
Ryder for his part lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Canelo Álvarez in his most recent fight.
DAZN will broadcast Munguia-Ryder as the main event of a card presented by Golden Boy Promotions from the Footprint Center, the home stadium of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns.
