At the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Frank Martin (18-0, 12 KOs) scored an important unanimous decision victory over former Olympic bronze medalist Artem Harutyunyan (12-0, 7 KOs) in a lightweight eliminator endorsed by the WBC.
Harutyunyan came out pressing hard and had Martin on the defensive in the early rounds.
But the sixth was the turning point when Matin launched an onslaught. In the tenth he battered the tiring Armenian with southpaw clusters and with forty seconds of the twelfth remaining, Harutyunyan took a knee, to stem the storm and was given an eight count from Referee Thomas Taylor.
The scores and UD were 114-113, 115-112, 115-112. All for for Martin.
