O’Shaquie Foster proved he is one of the best fighters in the sport today as he jumped from the super featherweight division to lightweight and authoritatively defeated former World Champion Stephen Fulton Jr. to capture the World Boxing Council Lightweight title at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Foster delivered one of his best performances to date in a unanimous decision victory. The scores were 117-111, 118-110, and 119-109 for the two-time WBC 130-pound champion.
Foster, who also claimed an Interim Lightweight belt, leveraged his huge reach advantage to keep Fulton at a long distance for much of the night.
Early in the fight, Fulton was more active, throwing punches and moving with speed. But Foster is an equally fast fighter who was marking the distance and unleashing power shots to dominate the contest.
Foster improved his record to 24-2, 12 knockouts, earning his second consecutive victory. Fulton, meanwhile, fell to 23-2, 8 knockouts.
