
O’Shaquie Foster will defend his World Boxing Council super featherweight title against Eduardo ‘Rocky’ Hernández,Saturday at the Benito Juárez Sports Center in Cancún, Mexico, promoted by Matchroom, in association with Pepe Gómez and Cancún Boxing and which will be broadcast live on DAZN.
Foster (20-2 11 KOs) captured the vacant belt in San Antonio, Texas in February, becoming the first fighter to defeat Mexican Rey Vargas on points to become world champion at his first try. The Houston fighter faces another Mexican opponent, this time in his first defense.
Power puncher Rocky (34-1, 31 KOs) gets his mandatory crunch shot at Foster on Mexican home turf and will relish having his first world title fight here. ‘Rocky’ cut loose on a ferocious streak of KO victories, recording his sixth straight victory roll with a third-round beatdown of Hector Garcia in Monterrey this July.
Both fighters were face to face and close hand for the official weigh-in this Friday.
Foster checked in at 129.8 pounds, while Hernandez stopped the scale at 130 pounds.
