Boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather held a press conference in Las Vegas to officially announce his upcoming exhibition fight against Japanese MMA star Mikuru Asakura this September in Japan.
Fresh from his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame at the weekend, Mayweather anticipated his return to Japan on Monday along with RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara and Asakura.
“I had so many great days competing at the highest level, but now it’s a great feeling to be able to travel the world and do these exhibition matches and have fun. My legacy is already etched in stone. It’s great to be able to entertain people from all over the world and from all walks of life.
“This boy is going to go out and give his best, like each and every one of my rivals. But I’ve seen all the styles, so my job is to go out there and be myself and have fun and do what I do best,” Floyd said.
“I am an MMA fighter, but I will take this opportunity and use Mayweather to raise my name and value internationally. I will win this fight,” commented the Japanese fighter.
Additional information about the September event will be announced soon.
