In the Balneario Camboriú of Santa Catarina, Brazil, the first WBC Latino Amateur Championship in this country is held with great success.
Five countries participate in this direct elimination tournament: Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador, and Mexico.
The first day of activities began with a welcome show with typical Brazilian rhythms and an inspirational message from the President of the WBC, followed by 22 matches between the five participating nations, where the youngsters showed their potential and their desire to reach the highest point in boxing.
The former world champion Acelino “Popó” Freitas was present to encourage the teams, and so apt as hers one of the best champions that Brazil has produced. The family of another great idol of this country, Eder Jofre, was also there.
In this tournament there are 7 WBC Amateur belts at stake for each category (5 men’s and 2 women’s) and the best trainer will also be recognized with a belt. All the fights that have taken place, as well as the finals, will be registered in Boxrec, by an agreement that was reached.
The tournament is presented by Anjos Sem Asas, Prefeitura de Balneário Camboriú and Fundação Municipal de Esportes de Balneário Camboriú. It is endorsed by the WBC Amateur and supervised by the Conselho Nacional De Boxe.
