
At “Coffee Tuesdays” the President of the FECOMBOX, Juan Carlos Pelayo, Juan Jose Herrera, vice president, the executive secretary Dr. Enrique Aguilar, Dr. Porfirio Alejandro Gómez Rueda, regional vice president of the southern zone and ratings and championship chairman as well as the Treasurer Omar Mintun Escalona and the Record Secretary, Fernando Gómez Véjar, met at the traditional conference to talk about the mission and commitment of FECOMBOX.
FECOMBOX President Juan Calos Pelayo, recalled the birth of the FECOMBOX (Federation of Professional Boxing Commissions of the Mexican Republic) as an intelligent response from the vast majority of the main boxing commissions in the country, to make a common front against of the abuses towards boxers with the aim of making the sport safer and, above all, maximizing the protection of the boxer.
Despite a lot of work concerning this matter, it is undeniable that there are still unscrupulous people who abuse the need of many boxers, risking their lives, giving them false starts, duplicating identities, falsifying records, among many other cheating practices that they hurt the sport, but especially the boxers.
Dr. Porfirio Alejandro Gómez Rueda, who oversees ratings and championships, was clear in saying that all the members that make up FECOMBOX work hard on various action plans to eradicate these practices. He also commented that one of the most important aspects is to seek unity between the various Commissions, because only with good communication and teamwork can the objective be reached, he added that currently 7,477 boxers have been ranked, there are 10 FECOMBOX champions and although for now there is only one women champion. The closest objective is to have a greater exposure of the women’s championships.
Dr. Enrique Aguilar made special emphasis on the work carried out in relation to medical examinations, a challenge that has not been easy, since it is practically to educate trainers, managers and even the boxers themselves to comply with this protocol. He added that making a common front and not giving in to the demands is the key to taking care of the boxers.
The fundamental objective of the FECOMBOX, is through the union of the Commissions, to ensure that their operation is as efficient as possible, to ensure physical, technical, moral and cultural well-being. of boxers and other members of the boxing family, both nationally and internationally.
To reach this important objective, FECOMBOX has designed various technical, medical and administrative guidelines, and has also established a database related to boxing at a national and international level, to publish the information that is required; It was also created a single Technical Regulation for all the affiliated Commissions of the Mexican Republic. In addition to conducting seminars and academic-technical courses for Official Ring Commissioners, managers, assistants, boxers and in general for all those people related to boxing.
