In an atmosphere charged with media anticipation expectation and with the precision of a veteran in his prime, Mexican Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada offered a public workout at the historic Teiken Gym.
Hd made it abundantly it clear that he arrives in Japan with a single objective: to reclaim his place as a challenger for the World Boxing Council world bantamweight title.
A few days away from his highly anticipated eliminator against local phenomenon Tenshin Nasukawa, taking place this Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Ryogoku Kokugikan, Estrada showed enviable mobility, constant punching volume, and impeccable physical condition.
The former two-division world champion is not only seeking a victory but also to consolidate his legacy by attempting to conquer a third weight category.
After completing a grueling, comprehensive camp between Hermosillo and Mexico City, with special emphasis on sparring with left-handed partners to neutralize Nasukawa’s style, the 35-year-old Sonoran appeared serene yet focused.
“I’m ready. It’s his home, but I have to win without leaving any doubts,” Estrada declared after the session, which included intense work on the mitts, heavy bag, and speed bag under the watchful eye of the international press.
The fight represents the definitive test for Tenshin Nasukawa (7-1). The Japanese fighter, who seeks to validate his definitive transition to professional boxing after a defeat against Takuma Inoue, faces for the first time a fighter who has overcome legends of the magnitude of Román “Chocolatito” González, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, and Carlos Cuadras.
While Nasukawa will rely upon his speed and distance control, the hierarchy and suffocating pressure of the Mexican seem to be the factors tilting the scales in this final eliminator.
The winner will progress to become the challenger for the current WBC bantamweight champion, Takuma Inoue.
