On March 13 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, the flyweight champion of the World Boxing Council Juan Francisco Estrada will have a long-awaited rematch against the Nicaraguan Román González.
Estrada and González met for the first time in November 2012, in the light fly division, and on that occasion González won a high-level match by unanimous decision.
The rematch fight between González (50-2-0, 41 KO’s) and Estrada (41-3, 28 KO’s), is possible thanks to the exemplary acceptance and sportsmanship of the mandatory contender, the Thai Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, who agreed to become temporarily aside to allow this great fight to happen.
Both fighters submitted their 30-day pre-weigh-in prior to the match. Estrada weighed 124 pounds, while Gonzalez made 124.6
The WBC recognizes the professionalism of both warriors for fulfilling this important commitment.
We appreciate the hard work of William Boodhoo, responsible for following up on all medical requirements.
