The first edition of the Tijuana Sports Gala Ceremony 2019 (galatj.gesport.mx) was inaugurated today, recognizing and lauding the efforts of the various personalities that have put the name of this vibrant city and Baja California on the map.
As part of the program, a series of conferences called “Success stories” will also be offered.
The start of the conferences are led by the prominent gymnasts Alexa Moreno and Daniel Corral.
Then the Director of the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Baja California (INDE), MC Saúl Castro Verdugo, will do a presentation.
The northern region of Mexico has always been characterized by its great passion for boxing, a sport that has been represented by legendary characters.
For this reason the third and fourth blocks are represented by the President of the WBC Mauricio Sulaimán Saldívar, the International Judge Lic. Juan Carlos Pelayo, and the prominent promoter, Fernando Beltrán, who’s leader of Zanfer Promotions.
In the fourth block, Jackie “La Princesa Azteca” Nava, pioneer of women’s boxing and first world champion of the WBC, plus two of the brightest world champions of recent decades: “The great Mexican champion” Julio César Chávez and Erik “ Terrible ”Morales will talk about their experiencies. culminating with the boxing participation, the current superwelter world champion, Jaime Munguía Jr.
This lecture series will close with the success story from “The Titan” of baseball Adrián Gonzalez
At 7:30 pm, the red carpet reception will take place leading to the gala dinner, where there will be an artistic show performed by the Tijuana Opera and then the award ceremony.
The World Boxing Council congratulates the organizers of this great event. Mexican society needs initiatives like this one, which inspire and motivate, while recognizing those who have worked hard to achieve sports glory.
