Undefeated WBC Women’s Featherweight Champion Skye Nicholson (12-0) faced her unbeaten rival American Tiara Brown (18-0) at a press conference for the Saturday Showdown (22 March) at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olympic Park.
British boxing promoter and Chairman of Matchroom Sport, Eddie Hearn, showed to an assembly of media the commemorative WBC World Championship Belt that will be the winner’s exquisite trophy.
Hearn said the championship showdown brought together the two superstars of women’s boxing. “Something special, a standout for women’s boxing.”
Nicolson (29) seeks to unify the world featherweight title, but first she has to get past Brown.
“I’m here in Australia to win,” said Brown, promising to overwhelm the reigning champion on her home turf.
“I’ll be bringing aggression, she (Nicholson) is going to feel the heat.”
Nicholson has risen to the top of women’s boxing, as a tactical southpaw, while Brown has stopped 12 of 18 opponents with KO wins compared to her opponent who has scored only one KO win.
Nicholson assured Brown she also would be bringing a lot of pressure to the contest.
“The pressure will bring the best out of me,” she asserted.
