There are three hundred and fifty reasons why the World Boxing Council supports Gennady ”GGG” as the candidate to be the new President of World Boxing, at its third Congress in Rome on Sunday.

Before turning professional, Gennady fought an incredible three hundred and fifty amateur fights, winning all but five of them. He won a Gold Medal at the 2003 World Championships and then a Silver at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. As the great Roy Jones Jr said of him: ”After three hundred and fifty amateur fights, Gennady knows what to do against anything!”

As a professional boxer Gennady was twice unified World Champion and a WBC Icon representing the best in boxing as a role model worldwide.
Gennady is currently President of the Olympic Committee of his country Kazakhstan. His qualifications to lead World Boxing, which was established on April 13th 2023 and now has one hundred and twenty five Federations, are impeccable, unique, brilliant and admirable.

Boris Van Der Vorst who is stepping down and not seeking a second term, has saved Olympoc Style Boxing, with it being reinstated in the 2028 Summer Olympic Games. His herculean efforts leading a great team of amazing boxing commissioners faced head on all the wrong doings that the prior International Federation did for several years; WB obtained recognition and support from the IOC and brought boxing back from the very brink and maintains its place in the Modern Olympics, which was first established in 1904. A truly magnificent achievement from Boris and his team.

With his deep knowledge, vast experience, wisdom and leadership skills Gennady is ready to further develop World Boxing, whose guiding principles are: ”Integrity, honesty and excellence.”

Olympic style boxing is a vital artery providing the lifeblood of our sport. It is a priceless apprentice for the professional ranks. Those who have aspired and graduated include: Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, The Spinks Brothers, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya, Usyk, Lomachenko, Katie Taylor, Claressa Shields and so many more, including Gennady himself.

The World Boxing Council fully supports the endeavors of Gennady. With his leadership of World Boxing, the future looks bright, encouraging and hopeful, with lots to aim for and to work towards.

Very Best Wishes
Mauricio Sulaiman.
