World Boxing Council Lightweight Silver Champion Ryan Garcia says he wants to be a world champion ASAP, but…
His prudent and wise Trainer Eddy Reynoso, who`s coached Garcia in his four previous fights, believes his highly promising 21-year-old disciple, needs to chalk up a little more experience, before venturing into deeper waters to test his hooks in a world title bout.
In an interview with ESPN Reynoso commented: “Before going for the world crown, I would like a couple more fights. In the last three fights he`s fought just four rounds, and he needs to learn more.
“We are still missing two or three fights, not because he cannot defeat them right now, as he can beat anyone, up in the ring. He can defeat a champion, but to make absolutely sure, he needs to acquire more learning and gain more training, he still lacks a little experience. Let’s see if this year it can be achieved.”
Garcia comes from scoring consecutive first round knockouts against Romero Duno in November and Francisco Fonseca in February.
José López lasted only two rounds against Garcia in March 2018, while Braulio Rodríguez reached the fifth round before being knocked out.
Garcia, a resident of Victori Ville, California, must have a solid test, possibly against former world champion Jorge Linares, before contesting the world crown.
