Interim World Boxing Council Heavyweight Champion Dillian Whyte was finally able to gain revenge for his loss last year to Russian Alexander Povetkin.
Last Saturday, at the Europa Point Sports Complex in Gibraltar and after two previous postponements, as Povetkin tested positive for coronavirus, the Briton left absolutely no doubts about his superiority from the start of the fight until that fourth round in which it ended.
“This is the one that sent him on his way home. Boom! No one can resist my punch and stand up. None! Anyone who hits with a left hook must go down. Sometimes they can get back up, but they will go down.” Whyte said in an interview with Sky Sports.
And recalling the August loss last year, he commented, “I’m still upset. The first time I shouldn’t have lost. I’m just mad at myself. All I had to do was be a little bit smarter. I made a dumb mistake and paid for it.”
Whyte hopes to soon face the WBC absolute champion Tyson Fury.
