After losing four of his last five fights, the “Bronze Bomber” will seek to return to glory.
For five years, from 2015 to 2020, the heavyweights had only one king: Deontay Wilder. In January 2015, Wilder took the title from Haitian Bermane Stiverne and became the king of the heavyweights.
Wilder successfully defended his championship 10 times, nine of which ended in KO or TKO. The thorn in his side was Tyson Fury.
In total, they faced each other three times. The first was a draw in which the “Bronze Bomber” retained his title, the second was when Fury took the title in seven rounds, and in the third, Wilder tried to regain his title but was knocked out again.
Since his second fight with Fury, Wilder has fallen into a slump, winning only one of his last five fights. On top of that, Deontay underwent two shoulder surgeries.
After a period of physical and spiritual recovery, rest and recuperation Deontay is ready to return to action in the ring.
“My mind is back, my spirit is back. Physically, I’m back. Now I’m injury-free,” said the American.
Thus Friday, June 27, Wilder will face Tyrrel Herndon at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas, United States.
Wilder has a record of 43-4-1 with 42 KOs.
Tyrel Herdon has a record of 24-5 with 15 KOs and has won 4 of his last 5 fights.
