Following his impressive decision victory in the rematch against Chris Eubank Jr. last Saturday, British boxer Conor Benn discussed his ambitions for the near future, which are focused on returning to his natural division and seeking world glory.
In front of 60,000 fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Benn expressed his desire to compete again at 147 pounds (Welterweight) and earn an opportunity for the WBC World Championship, currently held by champion Mario Barrios.
Benn, whose triumph over Eubank Jr. has generated significant attention, made it clear that his focus is on legacy, rather than drama or immediate rematches.
“This win meant a lot to me after what many believe is a family feud, but it’s just another cycle in the history of British boxing. What I dream of is winning the WBC World Championship with all my heart and life. A WBC World Championship, just like my father, will be the most special moment of our lives,” declared Benn, referring to his father, the legend Nigel Benn.
The boxer and his trainer, Tony Sims, are starting a new phase in his career, promising greater discipline, learning, responsibility, strategy, and emotional control both inside and outside the ring.
When discussing the path forward, Benn dismissed the idea of a trilogy with Eubank Jr., at least for now.
“Although money is important in all sports, what really matters to me is pursuing that WBC championship and achieving my goal. That’s why perhaps a third fight is not among my priorities for now,” concluded Benn.
With this statement, Conor Benn charts a clear course: his sights are set on the Welterweight division and the coveted Green and Gold belt held by Mario Barrios.
