Cleto Reyes – Hand in Glove Excellence

Cleto Reyes is a Mexican manufacturer of boxing equipment famed the World over for the brilliant quality of its products and as such it`s the number one choice of champions.

Known as the Puncher`s Glove and the Glove of Champions, more than two hundred have proudly donned it. Cleto Reyes`s boxing gloves- the Numero Uno  of: Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez, Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez, Juan Manuel Marquez, Ruben “Puas” Olivares, Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya. It remains and it is the cherished and handsome favourite! Each pair are handmade and hand crafted.

In the WBC`s quest to standardize boxing gloves to insure integrity, design and protection for the boxer`s most precious assets, Cleto Reyes is The Benchmark/Hallmark example. The company which also manufactures every boxing asset, is a trusted  and admired ally of the World Boxing Council.

Founded by Cleto Reyes,  in 1945 their gloves were used in the National Boxing Association lightweight championship fight between Juan Zurita and Ike Williams, at El Toreo de Cuatro Caminos.

By 1970, Cleto Reyes` health was declining and his son Alberto joined the firm. It became an Official Trademark and Industria Reyes SA de CV was established in 1979.

A company distinguished by history, passion, dedication, but above all that shares the philosophy of our beloved leader and President For Life José Sulaimán, who lived to serve others. This united aim plus goal led them to form a solid alliance, where we cannot fail to mention the invaluable support that both Alberto, as well as his children and all those who make up the Cleto Reyes company have given us in the WBC Cares program. One of the noblest initiatives, and objectives, is to carry a message of hope and inspiration through classy world champions who visit youth centres, hospitals, orphanages, gyms and family homes, which under the direction of Jill Diamond in the United States and Christiane Manzur, in Mexico raises funds for medicines, toys, clothes, shoes, pantries, gym equipment, as well as medical supplies.

This close relationship between the WBC and Cleto Reyes, has gone way and beyond. On many occasions, Don Beto and now his family, have manufactured special and commemorative gloves for various events of the WBC from Conventions, elite fights, pink gloves for the campaign against Breast Cancer, even the traditional gloves in the colors of our WBC… Green and Gold of course.

Alberto died in 2019 and the entire Boxing World mourned.  In heartfelt Tribute World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman said: “Whenever and wherever there was a need, Alberto was always the first to offer his support, by equipping gyms in poor neighborhoods and in many other countries.  He supported us in programs in prisons and so many other social programs.

“Alberto had a great way of being, delivering and returning to society what Boxing gave him. All the boxers who went to Cleto Reyes were always helped and supported by Alberto.  He was, is and forever will be A Great.”

That Great and stellar legacy is continued by his grown up children: Alberto, Magdalena and Elizabeth.  Cleto Reyes is:  Hecho en Mexico. Cleto Reyes is the tremendous Pride of Mexico and The World.
