World Boxing Council female middleweight champion, Claressa Shields, is in Miami yesterday to apply the finishing touches to her training camp at the Fifth Street gym as she prepares to face champion Christina Hammer on Saturday, April 13 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Shields spent the last five weeks training at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after a two-week pre-camp in her hometown in Flint, Michigan.
“We’ve been training twice a day every day, except on Sundays, for five weeks in a row,” Shields said. “We did a lot of training rounds, speed races, work with pads, push-ups, exercises. I`ve put my whole mind soul and body into this camp, and now is the time to begin to tone down. I am in great shape and my weight is excellent, I am also in a great place mentally and very happy with this camp in general.”
Tickets for the live event, promoted by Salita Promotions, are priced at $ 150, $ 100, $ 55 and $ 35 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster and at boardwalkhall.com.
