
Legendary Mexican manager Jesús “Cholain” Rivero has passed away at the age of 95.
“Cholain” became a legend, ably and astutely managing the career of champion Miguel Canto. He imparted his considerable knowledge to Humberto “La Chiquita” González, Oscar de la Hoya, the Ulises brothers and Jorge Solís, among many others.
Rivero, considered by many to be one of the finest trainers in Mexico, was born on October 3, 1929, in Mérida, Yucatán. In 2016 he was recognized in the Yucatán Sports Hall of Fame.
He studied for three years a Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and later, he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in History at the Faculty of Philosophy at UNAM.
