What goes a pound comes around, with a hiccup at this Friday’s official weigh-in of the fight between WBC flyweight champion Julio César Martínez, and the former champion, Román ‘Chocolatito’ González.
They fight this Saturday night at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, in San Diego, California.
Martínez (18-1 14 KOs) will face a great former champion “Chocolatito” (50-3 41 KOs), replacing Juan Francisco Estrada, who is not in a position to fight after getting sick with Covid-19.
Both fighters stepped on to the scale. Chocolatito registered 114.7 pounds, but Martínez was 116.4 pounds. According to the rules of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), Martínez will receive a fine for failing to reach the agreed weight of 115 pounds.
The fight, which is promoted by Matchroom Boxing, will be televised on DAZN.
