Cherneka Johnson crowned queen of the 118-pound division with ninth round TKO

Australian Johnson took the fight on just two weeks’ notice and what a difference those days made. 

After an even start, the Australian began to impose her rhythm with combinations to the body. The fight started very intensely with both fighters throwing a lot of punches. 

Before the start of the eighth round, with the corners already out of the ring, the ring doctor checked Metcalf due to the punishment she had taken in the previous rounds.

 In the ninth round, she landed a solid right hand that left Metcalf unable to respond, forcing the stoppage. Johnson becomes Australia’s first undisputed world champion.
