Most of us suffer bullying at some time during our childhood and even adulthood, at school or even later in the workplace.
Bullies don`t dare to pick on someone their own size. Cowards at heart, they try their darndest to victimize a child with eyesight problems, chronic asthma, smaller physical stature, gentle nature. That bully swoops down to torment, by plotting to create a target, so as to reinforce their own sense of inadequacy and inferiority.
The classic definition of a bully is: A person who habitually seeks to harm or intimidate those whom they perceive as vulnerable. This is someone, who they single out as different and who they identify as weaker. Ripe for exploitation and humiliation. The word bully is a noun. The person who inflicts bullying is NOT a no one! A name in our community. A predator. A person who must learn that this form of cruelty and sadism is totally unacceptable.
Charlie “The Hammer” Hall aged fourteen, is Australia`s youngest Corporate Boxer and he`s the World Boxing Council`s Anti Bullying Ambassador. He`s also the Chairman of the WBC Cares Young Courage Committee. Charlie has the full support of his Parents. His Dad is one of his Trainers, and also his Best Friend.
Charlie was The Star of the World Boxing Council`s 2019, 57th Convention in Cancun, Mexico, greatly impressing the Assembly with a heartfelt talk about how to overcome bullying. Words of wisdom and significance, far beyond his numerical age. The young voice of wisdom through experience of surviving and defeating bullying. The import and impact of Charlie`s words have achieved a far-reaching effect, consequence and balm, tackling the insidious tentacles of bullying which slither into all nations and all societies. Their constricting grip must be prized apart. It can be done! It will be done!
Charlie who was diagnosed with Autism, frankly relates: “My school life has been full of physical and verbal bullying.” Charlie didn`t give up on education saying: “I love school and I love learning. My autism isn`t a disability, but a blessing, as I`m so focused on getting things right and accomplished. I finally stood my ground in the school yard and said no more. Then I stepped up to help others being bullied, taking them away from situations and offering kind words of re-assurance.”
Charlie`s answer to the bullies, was to take up boxing at the age of eight and dedicate himself to the sport he so loves. Today, Charlie is a strong, lean, well developed young man, who can more than hold his own in any given situation. He trains twice a day, six days per week, starting at 4.30am. But characteristically, he doesn`t use his boxing skills to initiate or provoke fights, seeking vengeance. Charlie has the self-discipline to walk away from a situation, and only if the bully persists, then Charlie invites that individual to come to the gym, put on a pair of gloves, headgear, put in a mouthguard and go a few rounds, NOT to be pummelled, but rather to learn what swopping punches on an even playing basis and on an even field, actually feels like.
Neither you or Charlie are alone! After his story was first aired in 2018, along with the dirty laundry issue of soiling bulling, in an Australian television program, tens of thousands of children, their siblings and their concerned parents made contact with Charlie, sharing messages of: “I know exactly how you feel, because I`m going through it myself!”
Charlie spearheads his anti-bullying campaign with a trident pronged campaign. He spars exhibitions with an array of Australia`s toughest, hardest and most talented champions and ex champions, at corporate boxing events. And it`s unanimous, as they`ve all become great friends, praising him as such a fine, caring, charismatic young man, who`s heart is as big as The Gold Coast. It`s no coincidence that some of them were also bullied as children and became boxers, learning to defend themselves as trained fighters, who compete, but shun the cowardly tactics of their nemesis.
Bullying is physical, but its perpetrators also use a cloak, trying to savagely inflict it, by perverting social media mediums. Charlie gives talks about how to deal with and confound bullying, without either giving in to it or resorting to violence to fight fire with fire.
Anti-bullying empowerment.

Charlie says: “I want to be a role model and a mentor to children in the World. I am on earth to make a difference.”
