Caroline Dubois will defend her WBC lightweight title against contender Bo Mi Re Shin on Friday, March 7 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, on a card presented by BOXXER and broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK.
Dubois’ world title defense will be part of a card headlined by the welterweight world title unification between Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price, in a historic event that will feature only women’s bouts.
Dubois captured the interim WBC world title with a clear unanimous victory over Maira Moneo in Barnsley in August. The Tokyo 2020 Olympian was then promoted to WBC world champion when Irish super lightweight champion Katie Taylor opted to compete at 140 pounds.
Like Dubois, South Korea’s Bo Mi Re Shin is known for her all-action style. The 30-year-old from Seoul, has 10 knockouts in her 18 wins. She is a former WBC International Champion and is currently ranked No. 1 in the world. She is undefeated in her last three bouts following a split decision loss to former world champion Delfine Persoon.
Dubois commented: “I’m excited to defend my WBC world title against Bo Mi Re Shin. I think she’ll be a tough challenge, but I think I’m on another level. I’m excited to be a part of such an amazing show. Women’s boxing is taking it by storm right now. It’s doing amazing things. It’s proven time and time again that it’s here to stay.”
Bo Mi Re Shin commented: “I am very excited to have the opportunity to challenge Caroline Dubois for the Green and Gold WBC world title. I am number one in the world for a reason, and I have earned my opportunity. I have been preparing for Caroline for two years, since I first heard about a possible fight with her. On March 7th, I will become world champion.”.
