Born on May 23, 1951 in Tepito, one of the most challenging neighborhoods in Mexico City, Carlos Zárate Serna, better known as “Cañas”, not only faced his opponents in the ring, but also overcame the adversities of life. A boxer with a devastating punch, Zárate Serna was one of the most outstanding hard hitting boxers of his time, with a career that catapulted him to world fame.
