Carlos Cañizales to Fight in Thailand During WBC Convention

At the traditional Martes de Café, it was announced that Venezuelan fighter Carlos “CCC” Cañizales will defend his WBC light flyweight world title during the annual WBC Convention in Thailand. His opponent has yet to be confirmed.

Promoter Ricardo Maldonado gave further details:

“We reached an agreement with promoters in Thailand, and we will have the honor of staging this title defense at the Convention.”

Mauricio Sulaimán remarked:

“This was the first world championship fight in Venezuela in 10 years, and you are the first champion from there. Congratulations on the way you have managed your career.”

As a token of gratitude, Cañizales presented Sulaimán with the shorts he wore when he became world champion.
