Canelo KO’s Fielding in three rounds
WBC Middleweight champion, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez pummeled and punished Rocky Fielding’s long slender body and knocked him out in the third round, at a sold out Madison Square Garden.
Canelo knocked down Fielding with left hooks to the body in the first and second rounds, and twice, with a head punch and then another rib tickler in the third round. A punctuating right hook to the head, chopped and dropped Rocky, followed by a concluding crunching left hook to the liver that put him back there, gasping at the sheer power of the cropping flame haired champion.
Referee Ricky Gonzalez literally and demonstrably waved off the one sided drubbing at 2:38 of the third round following the fourth knockdown….two in that short episode, ending a brief encounter.
Canelo, who thrilled the huge crowd with his precision power punching fought for the first time at the super middleweight division of 168 pounds. Fielding (27-2, 15 KOs) has competed at super middleweight and light heavyweight (175 pounds) throughout his eight year professional career.
Canelo (51-1-2, 35 KOs) becomes a champion in a third weight class.
