The final press conference between Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez and Terence “Bud” Crawford, was at the T-Mobile Arena. It broke away from the traditional boxing format, surprising with an open setup where journalists could ask questions directly to the fighters.
In a relaxed and spontaneous atmosphere, both champions showed mutual respect, far from the usual war of words. “I’m ready to shock the world,” said Crawford confidently despite fighting at 168 pounds for the first time.
Canelo, meanwhile, sounded self-assured: “I’m prepared, ready, and I can’t wait for Saturday night.”
During the media exchange, the Mexican avoided guaranteeing a knockout but vowed to put on a show: “It’s very hard to say, I’m facing one of the best boxers. If the knockout comes, great, but if not, I’ll give a great show because I’m the best.”
Crawford, true to his character, downplayed the judges’ role: “I’m here for a reason, and God doesn’t make mistakes.”
One of the most talked-about moments came when Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, voiced his wish for fight night: “I want to see blood, smashed faces, and broken bones.”
In the midst of questions, Canelo also left the door open for a future clash with David Benavidez: “I’ve never said no to anyone. We’ll see after this fight. Right now, I’m focused on Crawford.”
Saturday, September 13, the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host one of the most anticipated fights in recent years.
