The great gift of life is to watch the smile of a boy or girl, and that was elicited by the champion ambassadors of the World Boxing Council and the WBC Cares: Jackie Nava, Humberto González and Pipino Cuevas during their visit to DIF of Oaxaca.
Girls, boys and teenagers listened attentively to the stories of the former boxers who sought to inspire them with their best anecdotes and legendary tales about their beginnings, middles and grand finales, in the sport of fists.
“I can tell you that do not allow anything or anyone to tell you that you cannot do something that you want, they told me that I could not because I was chubby or when I practiced karate they told me that I was not going to win a competition; I ignored it and went after my dreams, until I became the first world champion of the World Boxing Council,” said Jackie Nava.
Among the girls, Rocío stood out, who regardless of her blindness, brought Humberto “Chiquita” González into her world. She had him close to her and that is how she met him: “You have taught me the world of boxing and no one should give up because of the dream that one to have” said the teenager very excited.
Pipino Cuevas told them the phrase that his father said to him and that stuck with him, the same phrase that motivated him: “My father told me when I returned from training the first time, you have to be world champion; And so I did, at the age of 18 I became world champion.”
Thus, within the WBC Cares activities, the former champions had a great time with the youngesters for whom they also signed autographs and donated coloring books, as well as educational games such as dominoes, memorama, chess, Chinese checkers and rubic cube.
At the event were Lic. Maribel Santiago, director of the Casa Hogar of the DIF Oaxaca; in addition to Arturo de Jesús Chávez, head of INDEPORTE. Also, the honorary president of the DIF Oaxaca, Irma Bolaños.
