Camila “La Magnífica” Zamorano consolidated her reign as World Boxing Council (WBC) Atomweight Champion by decisively defeating Japanese challenger Sana Hazuki by unanimous decision.
In a stellar event held before a euphoric crowd at the Arena Sonora in her native Hermosillo, the young 17-year-old Mexican champion offered a masterful and precocious boxing classic over ten rounds.
From the start, Zamorano (13-0, 1 KO) took the initiative with her technical boxing, speed, and power, managing to rock the experienced Hazuki (13-12-1, 6 KOs) on several occasions and bringing the crowd to its feet with the promise of a knockout.
Despite the ferocity of Zamorano’s attacks, especially in the middle rounds, the Japanese fighter demonstrated remarkable resilience and courage, remaining on her feet until the final bell.
At the conclusion of the bout, the three judges had no doubts about the local boxer’s superiority, issuing identical scorecards of 100-90.
This victory marks Zamorano’s first successful defense of the WBC Atomweight World Title after being elevated to absolute champion status after winning the interim title last June.o.
