The World Boxing Council celebrates the extraordinary journey of Fountain of Youth Camila Zamorano Encinas, who has etched her name into the history books by becoming the organization’s youngest-ever world champion, achieving global glory at just 17 years of age.
Hailing from Hermosillo, Sonora, “La Magnífica” reached the pinnacle of world boxing on June 14, 2025, after securing a unanimous decision victory over the experienced Japanese fighter Mika Iwakawa on home soil.
With refined technique and maturity far and a way beyond her tender years, Zamorano not only claimed the WBC Atomweight title but also completed her high school studies that same week, proving that athletic and academic excellence can go hand in hand, hand in glove.
A Gym for the Community: Honoring Bahía de Kino
In recognition of her historic feat and her impeccable conduct outside the ring, the “Camila Zamorano” Boxing Gym was recently inaugurated in Bahía de Kino.
This new facility not only pays tribute to her career but was established with the mission of serving as a training ground for new talent.
An Example for Youth
Camila Zamorano has established herself as a beacon of inspiration for new generations based on three fundamental pillars:
1. Discipline and Resilience: She began her training at age 11 under the guidance of her father and trainer, Eleazar Zamorano, proving that perseverance yields rewards.
2. Life-Career Balance: Her ability to defend a world title while finishing her university and preparatory studies sends a powerful message about the importance of education.
3. Humility and Social Commitment: Despite her meteoric rise, Camila remains grounded, dedicating time to motivate children to stay away from vices through sports.
