The World Boxing Council (WBC) has officially named Camila “La Magnífica” Zamorano as the absolute world champion in the atomweight division, elevating her from her interim title and solidifying her position as the division’s top representative.
Zamorano won the interim title in June after defeating Japanese fighter Mika Iwakawa, a victory that confirmed her talent and dedication in the ring. At that time, the reigning champion, Tina Rupprecht, had commitments with other organizations after unifying all four world titles, which prevented her from defending against Zamorano immediately.
However, Rupprecht announced her retirement from boxing for personal reasons, allowing the WBC to officially designate Zamorano as the absolute world champion. With this recognition, Camila continues to make history in women’s boxing, cementing her status among the sport’s top athletes worldwide.
The champion has demonstrated through her talent, discipline, and passion for the sport that she is ready to defend her title and leave an indelible mark on boxing history..
