In a thrilling fight from start to finish, Mexican William “Camarón” Zepeda defeated former world champion Tevin “2X” Farmer by split decision to win the World Boxing Council interim lightweight title in a fight held at The Lugar Riyadh Season in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Farmer knocked down Zepeda in the fourth round with a straight left and gave him all he could handle. But Zepeda recovered, regained control of the fight and with his power punch, managed to prevail in a close fight.
Zepeda proudly wore the WBC interim belt, because the fight was hard fought, as shown by the 95-94 and 95-94 cards in his favor, while his rival Farmer got one nod of 95-94. It was that close.
“This fight gave me a lot of experience and we are going to work hard to come back better,” said Zepeda, who improved his record to 32-0, with 27 knockouts. Farmer, for his part, fell to 33-7-1, with 8 knockouts.
