Former WBC super middleweight champion Jermell Charlo (31-1, 15 KOs) had everything ready for his rematch against Tony Harrison (28-2, 21 KOs), but then…Harrison suffered an injury, so now his rival will be the 31-year-old Mexican knockout artist Jorge “Demonio” Cota (28-3, 25 KOs), on Sunday, June 23 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
“I`m very motivated, as it`s a great opportunity for the world to get to know me fighting Charlo. On June 23 I will surprise everyone! This is the most important fight of my career,” said Cota.
“Jorge Cota is a dangerous fighter. He has heavy hands and he’s looking for an opportunity to make history. I cannot underestimate any opponent,” said Jermell, who, with time on his hands, needs a handy victory in order to have a rematch with current WBC champion Tony Harrison.
