The second World Boxing Super Series tournament in the cruiserweight arrives at the semifinal between Mairis Briedis (25-1, 18 KOs) and Krzysztof Glowacki (31-1, 19 KOs) Saturday night at the majestic Arena Riga, Latvia.
At stake is the cruiserweight title of the World Boxing Council, which became vacant after injured Oleksandr Usyk was named champion in recess.
This Friday the official weighing of the evening took place, which both warriors breezed without problem:
Mairis Briedis (25-1, 18 KOs), tipped 89.9 kg / 198.1 lbs.
“I am one hundred percent ready for a real power struggle. Everyone in this tournament is in great shape and they are excellent fighters. It`ll be a great fight, I am grateful to be in this position. I am at home fighting for the Green and Gold Belt against a worthy rival,” said Briedis.
Krzysztof Glowacki (31-1, 19 KOs), tipped 89.6 kg / 197.5 lbs.
“I feel perfect, I hope the fight is exciting, because that’s what the fans expect. There`s no problem in fighting here, as I know there will be a lot of Polish fans here who will support me.”
