
The undisputed welterweight world champion, “The First Lady” Cecilia Braekhus, (36-0, 9 KOs), is training with renowned Abel Sanchez in Big Bear Lake, California, while preparing for a great 2020.
Braekhus and Sanchez joined forces for the first time last year, which resulted in a unanimous ten-round decision over challenger Victoria Bustos on November 30, 2019, in Monte Carlo. A fight that was broadcast by DAZN in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.
This victory, Cecilia´s first one as a Matchroom Boxing fighter, was acclaimed by the media and fans as she had one of the most impressive performances of her career. With the victory over Bustos, Braekhus tied the legendary Joe Louis registering 25 defenses of her world titles.
“It feels great to be back at the camp with Abel,” said Braekhus, who has been a champion since September 2014. “Abel is a true trainer and I am still learning daily how to become a better fighter. I can’t wait to go back to the ring.”
Sánchez, coach of the year 2015, said: “Cecilia is excellent and disciplined, even with everything she has achieved in her extraordinary career, she comes to the gym every day to work hard and learns.”
