A special and memorable special evening, focusing on how boxing is supporting and boosting the lives of people fighting a very different battle – Parkinson Disease.
Hosted by Parkinson Alberta, The Main Event treated the sold out crowd to a first class evening with the Sweet Science as the focus. While the 4 amateur cards brought great excitement and awareness of the sport to the event, it was the showcase and celebration of 14 men and women who participate in a boxing program to combat the symptoms of Parkinson that made the evening so special.
As a surprise to the participants of the boxing program, they were presented a medallion given by WBC/WBC Cares in recognition of their unwavering dedication to living life to it fullest despite their diagnosis. These men and women define what being a champion is.
Another highlight as WBC /WBA Featherweight World Champion, Jelena Mrdjenovich was presented the Hero Award for embodying and supporting the mission, vision, and values of Parksinson Alberta. Her keynote address focused on how we all have the ability to be a hero.
A huge Thank You to Mauricio Sulaiman Jill Diamond and the WBC for your support and contributions making the evening a tremendous success. The WBC presence was felt and greatly appreciated by all involved.
