During Martes de Café, a boxing card was presented that will take place at the Cuauhtémoc Sports Center with the goal of helping young people undergoing addiction rehabilitation.
Admission to the event, scheduled for Saturday, January 17 at 5:00 pm, will require bringing one kilogram of donated food (beans, rice, etc.).
Gabriel “Nitchs” Jiménez will face Daniel “Dragón” Sánchez for a World Boxing Council title.
Aaron Silva, Director of Hacienda Nueva Vida, stated: “Mauricio, I will never get tired of thanking you for the support of the WBC. To the mayor, thank you for opening the doors to allow us to hold this sporting event with the purpose of supporting all the young people who are in the process of rehabilitation.”
“Boxing at Hacienda Nueva Vida has been a tool to overcome addiction.”
Giovanni Madrigal, known on social media as “Padrino Huevo,” said: “I want to thank Mayor Alessandra for giving us the opportunity, for giving us a space and for acknowledging us. I also want to tell families that there is hope, that there is still a possibility.”
Alan “Rey” Picasso shared these words with the attendees, among whom were young people in rehabilitation at Hacienda Nueva Vida: “For me, it is very special to be here today. Across the street is the sports center where I started training in boxing. I don’t know what my life would be like today if I hadn’t practiced sports. Boxing and life have something in common: even though we may take many punches, we must keep moving forward and never throw in the towel. I am very proud of all of you.”
To conclude the event, Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega and Aaron Silva, Director of Hacienda Nueva Vida, signed a cooperation agreement to help rescue people experiencing homelessness and save them from adicctions.

The mayor stated: “What an important agreement, and how important it is to work together to move our causes forward. Today we are setting an example from civil society, world champions, opinion leaders, institutions, and the government of the Cuauhtémoc borough, showing that unity is strength.”
