
This Friday, Gabriela “Bonita” Sanchez successfully defended her WBC Silver flyweight title, decisively defeating the resilient and experienced Japanese fighter Okuda Tomoko by unanimous decision, at the BUAP Arena in Puebla, Mexico.
The fight was characterized and memorable, for its sheer intensity and aggressiveness from both fighters. Although it was at times rough and ready, as well as rugged, Sanchez delivered a better, more intense work rate with crisper punches, showing courage, resourcefulness and guile.
The Judges decided and ruled a handsome victory for “Bonita” with cards of 100-89. She successfully and triumphantly retains her Silver belt and improves her record to 11 wins (one by knockout), six losses and one draw.
Sanchez sincerely and classily thanked the support of the elected Governor of Puebla, Alejandro Armenta, in whose administration she will be the Director of the Sports and Youth Secretariats.
