Benavidez wins WBC interim light heavyweight title
The American David Benavidez was proclaimed interim champion of the World Boxing Council, after winning by unanimous decision over Oleksandr Gvozdyk at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
Benavidez showed his quality and that he is ready for great challenges in the 175-pound division, with a win over a quality former Olympic and world champion Gvozdyk.
Benavidez won with scores of 116-112, 117-111 and 119-109.
“Monster” Benavidez remains undefeated in 29 fights, while Gvozdyk suffered the second loss of his career in 22 fights.
