Benavidez will remain interim WBC light heavyweight champion

The World Boxing Council received a letter from Sampson Lewkowicz, confirming that David Benavidez will remain in the light heavyweight division.

Benavidez became the mandatory challenger for the WBC light heavyweight title, currently held by Artur Beterbiev, when he decisioned former world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

Benavidez will face the winner of the long-awaited fight between champion Artur Beterbiev against Dmitrii Bivol, on October 12.
