Baumgardner successfully defends WBC title

Super Featherweight Champion of the World Boxing Council, Alycia Baumgardner from the United States , defeated veteran Argentine Edith Soledad Matthysse, at the Manchester Arena in England.

Baumgardner clearly won on all three scorecards with identical scores of 100-90.

Matthysse took the fight at short notice and fought all 10 rounds against Baumgardner who was crowned last November, when she surprised, by knocking out Terri Harper in the fourth round.

With this victory, Baumgardner improved her record to 12-1, with 7 knockouts, while Matthysse dropped to 17-12-1, with 1 knockout..
