Baumgardner ready to defend WBC title against Persoon

Alycia Baumgardner will defend her WBC 130-pound title against Delfine Persoon on September 27 at Trilith Studios Town Stage in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs) of Detroit will fight for the first time since last July, when she defeated Christina Linardatou in a rematch to retain her super featherweight championship.

Baumgardner owns a fourth-round TKO victory over Terri Harper and a split decision win over Mikaela Mayer. These pair of victories helped establish her as one of the best fighters today.

Persoon (49-3, 19 KOs) is a former champion is from Belgium. The 39-year-old boxer’s most recent fight
was in May 2023, with a decision win over Bo Mi Re Shin in Belgium.

In 2019 she lost by majority decision to Irish star Katie Taylor and two fights later by unanimous decision in the rematch.
