Legendary Mexican champion Mariana “Barby” Juárez will return to the ring this Saturday, October 11, for her first fight of the year, defending her WBC Super Bantamweight Silver title against Japanese challenger Tomomi Takano.
The fight will take place in the State of Mexico, with the venue yet to be confirmed, as part of a card that will also feature Aarón De la Cruz vs. Reyneris Gutiérrez as a co-main event.
One of the most recognized, respected and beloved heronines in Mexican women’s boxing, Barby won the Silver belt in 2024 by defeating Matshidiso Mokebisi via technical knockout, and months later successfully defended it against Paola Rincón. With over two decades of experience and expertise in the ring, she has built a record of 57 wins, 13 losses, 4 draws, and 20 KOs, having also been world champion in the bantamweight and super flyweight divisions.
Challenger Tomomi Takano, from Tokyo, enters the bout with a record of 14 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw, and 9 KOs, trying to seize the title and take the belt from the Mexican Marvel.
The clash between Juárez and Takano represents more than a title defense: it is a confrontation between experience and ambition, between a legend seeking to extend her legacy and a contender aiming to write her own chapter in the ongoing story of Boxing.
