World Boxing Council super flyweight champion Jesse “Bam” Rodríguez, will defend his title against twice former world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, on Saturday, June 25 at the Tech Port Arena in San Antonio, Texas, beamed globally by DAZN.
Rodriguez (15-0, 10 KOs) will make the first defense of the belt he impressively won in February, defeating ex world champion Carlos Cuadras to become the youngest reigning champion in just 15 professional bouts.
“Bam” Rodríguez will face legendary 35-year-old Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43 KOs), who has a chance of turning twice into thrice, having won it in 2013 and then recovered it against Román “Chocolatito” González three years later.
Both fighters easily made it through the 30-day pre-weigh-in.
One of the main priorities of the World Boxing Council is the full implementation of the Weight Control Program, which aims to protect the health of fighters.
For the 30-day weigh-in, boxers must weigh no more than 10% above their division limit, for the 14-day weigh-in no more than 5%, and for the 7-day weigh-in 3%.
